Moose Creek Blooms at the New York State Museum • Feb 23-25, 2007

Moose Creek Ltd proudly designed and displayed the table vignette shown here, entitled “A Gilded Age Adirondack Dinner Party,” at the New York State Museum’s 2007 New York in Bloom event. This three-day long experience is one of Albany’s most anticipated events and features more than 125 spectacular floral arrangements throughout the Museum designed to complement exhibitions, as well as informative demonstrations and children’s activities.  Approximately 10 – 20,000 people attend each year.

This year marks the 16th anniversary of this fund-raising event that benefits the Museum Club and the Discovery Squad, the Museum’s award winning after school programs for children and teens.

"Souvenir Spotlight • Redecorating project puts travel memorabilia on display"
by Frances Ingraham Heins

Designer Steve Momrow converted part of a kitchen into a salon where guests can relax while the host cooks.

. . . Instead of a table in the eating area of the rectangular kitchen, Momrow created a salon with the upholstered sofa and chairs from the living room. The kitchen light over the former table was removed and a floor lamp brought in for reading. Track lighting illuminates the art in the room and provides task lighting.

A painting by a friend gives the wall behind the sofa a focal point. Other framed works and wood furnishings from the living room complete the salon.

"Steven thought I should have a work island in the kitchen, with open shelves underneath," says Anderson. "The island is made from reclaimed pine and finished in a warm fruitwood stain. It looks like it has been in the family for years."

"Interior Inspiration • Moose Creek design duo helps clients craft vision for home"
by Joanne E. McFadden

When Patricia DeMento and Stephen Momrow work together, something amazing happens. The two, business partners for more than a decade, recognized this early on in their interior design careers. "Steve and I went into business together because we wanted to work together," DeMento said. "There is a creative spirit that emerges when we work together."

Despite the moose on their sign out front, the design team's expertise and experience encompasses far more than the civilized rustic look.

They design interiors that range from traditional looks, such as high country with French or English influences, to contemporary decor. Another look they're proud of is the "urban safari" style.

For DeMento and Momrow, design is about having choices.

Moose Creek's homey showroom is full of unique items that customers aren't going to find in conventional stores . . .

Momrow and DeMento see interior design as a serious investment, and have seen more and more people want to work with designers. "They're interested in having interiors that are pulled together and pulled together for their lifestyle," DeMento said.
Moose Creek Takes Top Award!

As a fundraiser to benefit Habitat For Humanity, the recently completed Saratoga Builders Association Showcase of Homes is an eagerly anticipated annual event featuring the latest in fine homebuilding, interior design, home theaters, landscaping, and kitchen & bath design, attracting about ten thousand visitors who tour the several homes. A group of peer judges view the homes as well, and gives awards for the various categories.

Moose Creek Ltd. principals Patricia DeMento and Stephen Momrow designed the interiors of the Capital Construction "green" home, a beautiful and ecologically sensitive building using all the latest techniques and materials to promote clean indoor air and energy efficiency. Their interior design reflected this eco-friendly philosophy by bringing the outdoors in, utilizing the colors of nature and natural materials such as wicker, rattan leather, iron, and solid wood, as well as collector quality handmade adirondacks rustics. The combined effect was one of refined rusticity and casual comfort.

Pat and Steve were proud to receive the award for "Best Interior Design," and enjoyed their collaboration with builder Franklin Lasky, who incidentally took top awards in every category!

"Call of the Wild" by Gloria Gale

. . . "I had Steve Momrow from Moose Creek Limited in Albany, NY, help me with the décor. He suggested items like the burgundy and green plaid living room couches, custom-carved kitchen and dining room table, and our twig-framed bed in the master bedroom."

"Forgoing Formalities" by Gary Thompson

. . . The strong outdoor connections not only influenced the home's design but also its decorating scheme. Interior designers Patricia DeMento and Stephen Momrow helped the homeowners select colors and furnishings consistent with a warm, family atmosphere amid a trees-and-mountain setting. Soft, natural shades of green and brown dominate and complement the abundance of wood and stone surfaces. A bolder, deep red runs throughout the kitchen and energizes rugs and fabrics in the family room and study. "They're not afraid of color," DeMento says of the homeowners. "It was very much a house that was meant to be lived in. It's a place that says, 'Come gather here and be comfortable.'"

The homeowner calls the decorating scheme "a little bit of lodge" and "more of a sophisticated country look."

"Happy Camping"
by Deb Felton

Steve Momrow's memories are much like the water in an Adirondack Mountains lake: deep and clear. They are particularly vivid when he recalls the summers of his youth.

. . . The co-owner of Moose Creek Ltd., an interior design firm with a store in Albany, New York, Steve set out to re-create the memories of his youth in his own lakeside retreat. Simultaneously, he hoped to honor Adirondack artisans who follow the traditions of this area.
